Er zijn geen studies gedaan waarin gekeken is naar de invloed van Echinacea bij bestraling of chemotherapie. Wel is bekend dat Echinacea invloed heeft op bepaalde stoffen die het afbreken van geneesmiddelen kunnen remmen of versnellen, bijvoorbeeld chemotherapie. Het is daarom mogelijk dat Echinacea ongunstig is voor de behandeling.
Aan een supplement met Echinacea kan ook vitamine C zijn toegevoegd. Vitamine C is een antioxidant en er zijn aanwijzingen dat antioxidanten het effect van bestraling en chemotherapie verminderen. Meer over antioxidanten bij bestraling lees je hier.
